JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for the overall safe operation of Mobile Cranes.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• The crane operator (Offshore / Onshore) is responsible for the correct operation of the crane as
• per the instruction given by the manufacturer.
• Able to understand the WMS documentation, JSA/FRA and Approved Lifting plan.
• He shall only respond to the instructions (signals) given by the Banksman (appointed Signaler);
• however, he shall follow the Emergency Stop Signal from anyone at site in case of any emergency.
• Daily pre-start checks shall be performed prior to commencing operations and should assist with the change out of ropes and hook blocks and procedures recommended by the crane
• manufacturer and operating company including updating the logbook.
• Crane should be secured at the end of each working shift.
• Responsible for reporting all defects noted during operation of the crane to the Site Lifting
• Supervisor / Operations Supervisor or Maintenance Focal Person.
• Ensure that the mobile crane should be used on level ground or else set level on outriggers beforeany load is applied.
• Fully conversant with the correct use of mobile crane outriggers and where outriggers should befitted, and aware of how to properly support the outrigger feet (this requires regular monitoring toensure that no movement occurs throughout the operation).
  • Able to set and check the functioning of the rated capacity limiter and rated capacity indicator.
• Aware of the effects of wind, sea condition and other climatic effects on the crane and load.
• Able to resist pressures from other people to carry out unsafe operations.
• Able to take action to avoid dangerous situations, including stopping operations.
• Able to operate fire extinguishers / fire suppressant equipment.
• Proper handover to be taken prior to start the shift, also ensure the crane can be swing 3600 in
• locating area especially in congested areas

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Minimum Qualification

• A minimum 21 years of age.
• Educated to a minimum qualification of higher secondary school certificate.
• Must have school certificate or above with FAIR Knowledge of written and spoken English.
• Must have valid UAE Driving License (Category 7/8) for driving heavy machinery and vehicles.

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

• At Least of 5 years’ experience as Crane Operator in an offshore/onshore Oil / Gas Company and
• a minimum of 3 years in similar Crane Type.
• Knowledge for reading and understanding Lifting plan
• Must have thorough knowledge of international signals for lifting and moving heavy loads by
• hydraulic mobile cranes.
• Shall be trained by COMPANY Approved Third Party Training Company and be assessed by
• COMPANY or Approved Third Party Training Company on mobilization. Shall be experienced or
• trained on the specific type of the Crane he will operate.
